Inspiration
Individuals never know when they are becoming dehydrated. In order to prevent serious injury we wanted to take precaution in human safety.
What it does
A moisture sensor detects for sweat and translates it to loss of water an individual has experienced.
How we built it
Our moisture sensor is a piezoresistive fabric that when water comes in contact it's resistive properties decrease and current increases. A microcontroller will take voltage inputs and outputs, sending this info to a database where if an individual is dehydrated a flag is immediately raised.
Challenges we ran into
Coding was a main challenge, communicating between microcontroller and database has proven to be difficult.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Setting up a database and sending correct values from a microcontroller that we just learned in a day.
What we learned
As electrical engineers, we can't stress enough how coding is important to bridge hardware with software.
