Track 3: After the Fact

What is the problem your solution addresses?

As young adults, we move through some of the most formative experiences of our lives like job applications, difficult conversations, and those one-off late night hangouts with the people you love most. These are proud moments that we almost never stop to process, not because we don’t want to, but because reflection has a reputation for feeling like homework. Like you need a journal, a candle, and an hour you don’t have in a perfectly serene environment to talk about your feelings. So we scroll instead, and the moment slips away. By the time we do sit down, the details are fuzzy and the feeling is gone. That’s what Pond fixes.

Why did you pick this solution, and how does it address the problem?

To us, reflection is one of the most cherished parts of our day. We wanted to design an app that helps others do the same; Pond doesn’t try to turn you into a journaler, it just meets you right after something happens. That moment while you’re still feeling it, and gives you a place to put it down with no template or pressure. Pond handles the structure around reflection, not the reflection itself. We help our users know when to do it and where to keep it, but the rest is theirs. The goal was never to make a better journal, it was to make reflection feel like something you wanted to do.
