Inspiration

Both of us have very rigorous schedules that require efficiency, productivity, and discipline, so we wanted to create a custom-designed pomodoro timer that would fit our liking and help our studies along with people our age that also aspire to adopt healthier studying habits.

What it does?

The Tseng Timer operates by starting with a timer of 25 minutes to study, then switches to 5 minutes to take a break, while also allowing the user to repeat intervals.

How we built it?

The majority of the project was written on the Angular Platform and specifically programmed with Typescript, HTML, and CSS.

Challenges we ran into

One difficulty was adjusting the timer to alternate between displaying a study timer for 25 minutes and then a break timer for 5 minutes. Another issue was translating the data of the user's input for the desired amount of half-hour sessions to the amount of times the timer will iterate between study sessions and breaks.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As high schoolers and this being our very first hackathon, we are very proud of the product we made with the level of experience we have.

What we learned

The two of us learned many new CSS features and the importance of incorporating them to enhance a webpage. Additionally, we also learned the process behind coding a timer and the effective ways to store variables so they can be more accessible across a program.

What's next for the Pomodoro Timer Project?

The Pomodoro Timer project can be improved upon for its UI/UX design, the inclusion of a backend to store user data to keep preferences updated, and more features like a schedule to complement the timer.
