polymap

We are a group of students interested in computer science with a range of experience in various technologies. After hearing the motivation behind HomeAway and the InternATXHackathon, we brainstormed for a few hours and came up with the idea of an Android app for location-based image search.

On average, working Americans have 16.8 days of vacation, the product of a trend of decreasing vacation times. Consequently, they have less time while traveling to organize and go on tours, thus missing out on a large aspect of the tourist experience. To remedy this problem, we built polymap, a simple, lightweight solution to enhance the travel experience and allow users to easily gain information about surrounding landmarks and features in real-time.
