Inspiration

We were inspired by the free market concept of incentivizing our inner desires to pollute for the greater good, wanting to exchange apathy and negativity into a positive net change for sustaining the world.

What it does

Our app Polluting for a Cause presents an amazing way to pollute the world and purge our pollution desires through a slot based game. If the player wins, they get a personal video from one of our corporate workers doing the polluting based on the user's winning spin. The polluting severity is based on a dropdown number the player selects which deducts morality points every time they spin. Morality points are increased through buying more where the profits made from our app in turn offsets the pollution through funding sustainable and ecofriendly projects…. Like Hack the Future. Not only are your Morality Points increased in game, but so is your morale in real life.

How we built it

From the ground up with fierce determination met with sweat and tears.... through the Lab App feature of Code.Org. With the beginner friendly and intuitive design and coding tools that were available, we were able to make a final product.

Challenges we ran into

Not having enough Kismet Cafe and snacks to max out our hitboxes... and also not having enough time to implement other features.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Being able to attend every workshop, while getting our job done to help sustain the world!

What we learned

Being able to manifest an idea into something concrete through collaboration.

What's next for Polluting for a Cause

Implement market or point buying system and improving upon the design and user interface. We could also expand to create an alternative winnings for other guilty pleasures.
