Inspiration

We wanted to highlight the environmental issues caused by the overconsumption of finite resources.

What it does

It visualizes countries' ecological footprints and biocapacity, showing how resource use compares to sustainability.

How we built it

We used Next.js for the frontend and Python for the backend, sourcing a dataset to power the visualizations.

Challenges we ran into

Implementing the interactive globe was complex, but we wanted to make the user experience engaging.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We completed the globe feature and successfully fetched and displayed data from our dataset in the frontend.

What we learned

We gained insights into global ecological footprints and learned to integrate Next.js with Python for a full-stack project.

What's next for Global Resource Footprint

We plan to expand the number of countries displayed and explore more comprehensive datasets for better accuracy.
