Inspiration

The inspiration for "Plato's Cave" comes from the classic allegory of the same name. Plato's Cave serves as a metaphor for enlightenment and understanding, and I aimed to create an experience that captures the philosophical depth of the allegory while bringing it to life in a contemporary, immersive manner. Merging philosophy with mixed reality offers a novel approach to exploring ancient wisdom through the prism of modern technology.

What it does

"Plato's Cave" provides an interactive shadow theater experience, allowing players to engage in expressive, non-verbal communication. The game features three modes: Mime Game, Shadow Narrative Theater, and Free Mode.

How we built it

I crafted a design document that details the conceptual, aesthetic, and technical facets of the game. This document will act as a blueprint, offering insights into the game's core mechanics, visuals, sound elements, and user interfaces. The incorporation of PICO SDKs is outlined to enable hand tracking and mixed reality functionalities. By shedding light on potential technical challenges, such as the hand tracking precision, the design document also serves as a guide for the development phase.

What we learned

I acquired skills in creating a Design Doc — this was, in fact, my first attempt! I also delved deep into research about other immersive applications to navigate specific design hurdles.

What's next for Plato's Cave

On the next phase, my focus will be on bringing "Plato's Cave" to life. The design document contains a timeline, outlining how the project could be finalized in 12 weeks.
