Inspiration

Sometimes it's hard to get things done without accountability, encouragement, or support from your friends. The goal of this app is to promote healthy and productive lifestyle choices by creating wagers using in-app points.

What it does

This web app allows the user to create "bets" with friends to earn points if they accomplish their goal, and lose points if they don't meet their goal. Results are displayed in an activity feed and on a weekly leader board.

How we built it

The app is built with React JS on the front end and Node JS on the back end. Database is handled using sqlite.

Challenges we ran into

Most of us had minimal experience with React JS, and connecting it with the back end was quite the learning experience for all of us.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to get major components of the application working, including the persistent database and responsive design.

What we learned

We learned a lot about full stack development as a whole.

What's next for Smart Bets

In the future, we'd love to be able to generate suggestions for wagers using AI. We'd also love to include better verification of the task being done, and additional note-taking abilities for documentation/live updates.
