Inspiration
Personal experiences: Drawing inspiration from personal experiences or stories of women who have faced harassment or felt unsafe on public transportation. We also conducted a survey asking people about their own experiences. Existing initiatives: Researching existing organizations and initiatives focused on women's safety and empowerment in public spaces. Statistics and data: To date, there are no global prevalence data on women’s experiences of sexual harassment in public transit. However, a Thomson Reuters Foundation survey of 1,000 women in Cairo, London, Mexico City, New York, and Tokyo found that 52 % of respondents overall cited safety as their main worry when using public transit. For the logo, we decided to go for an elegant minimalist aesthetic. The logo can be perceived in several ways. It can be seen as a steering wheel, a road leading to the sun, or a pov of you being hugged.
What it does
This women-focused ride-sharing app aims to provide a safe and reliable transportation alternative for women by:
Empowering women: Creating a platform exclusively for women as drivers and passengers fosters a sense of community and trust. This aligns with Goal 8: Promotes sustained inclusive decent work for all, Goal 5: empowering all women and girls, and Goal 11: making cities safer.
Enhancing safety: We have implemented a verification to safeguard the app from underage drivers. The app, in the future, will also feature an emergency contact/SOS functionality to ensure safety.
