Inspiration

PikeTrack was inspired by the need for fraternities to efficiently track members' hours for scholarship awards, fostering academic commitment and creating a supportive community among peers.

What it does

PikeTrack helps with this process, allowing users to easily log their study hours and access their records at any time. Our user-friendly platform not only helps maintain records but also encourages a culture of accountability and academic excellence among members.

How we built it

We developed PikeTrack using Streamlit and MongoDB. Streamlit provides us with a user-friendly interface for real-time updates, enabling members to easily clock in and out. MongoDB's document model allows us to efficiently store and manage member data, ensuring accurate record-keeping for scholarships. Together, these technologies help us with the management of member hours while enhancing user experience.

Challenges we ran into

While building PikeTrack, we faced difficulties connecting our data to the database, but we embraced the challenge. Learning how to utilize new resources is all part of the hackathon experience. Streamlit was also tricky for us since we couldn't manage to use developer mode, but we figured out a workaround. These challenges pushed us to explore and innovate, ultimately enhancing our skills and resulting in a cool tool for tracking hours effectively.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Some of the accomplishments we are proud of with "PikeTrack" include successfully integrating MongoDB for data storage, allowing tracking of hours. We also built a user-friendly interface using Streamlit, making it easy for users to navigate and access the information. This makes it a reliable system for tracking and managing user data, which will help the process of awarding scholarships. Overcoming the challenges together strengthened our teamwork and problem-solving skills, making us more resilient and adaptable. We also found a great taco spot at the end of the night!

What we learned

Definitely we learned a lot about teamwork and communication. Collaboration was the best tool for solving challenges, and we got hands-on experience with MongoDB, which boosted our understanding of databases. Working with Streamlit also boosted our front-end development skills as we built a user-friendly app.

What's next for PikeTrack

the next steps include improving user experience with features like personalized dashboards and better data visualization. We also want to make it more mobile-friendly so users can easily track their hours on the go, so android app would be an interesting implementation. Lastly, we’re excited to keep improving PikeTrack to ensure it meets the needs for it to become an actual usable tool.
