Inspiration

Our inspiration for building Picardy Protocol is the lack of help given to independent creators, labels & artistes and the need for creators and artistes to be heard while owning their earnings.

What it does

Picardy Protocol is a decentralized user-owned web3 native that is built in a modular framework to carry out its ultimate goal, of empowering artiste/creators to be independent and take control of their income and royalties.

The Picardy Protocol is built to support and improve ways independent creators, artistes, and labels within the community distribute, earn, raise funds and track their projects. The modular framework makes it easy for developers and platforms to easily plug in and play the functions from the Picardy Hub. The Picardy Protocol is built to imitate a social graph, where creators mint a profile in form of a BRC721 standard, which acts as the backbone of the creator's profile, as it holds all the activities of each artiste or creator (somewhat like a database that stores that songs, NFT photos) and is the key to getting the full utilities of the protocol. Details of each creator, including projects or photos, are stored in IPFS in order to keep track of the project (masters). Picardy Protocol allows creation of creator token for creators/artistes, so their audience and fans can buy and support while getting IRL utilities. (Creator Token Factory)

The protocol allows creation royalty tokens (as BRC721 and BRC20 respectively), which they can sell a percentage of their royalties, for their projects. This makes it possible for fans to earn from holding a percentage of royalties from their favorite creator. (Royalty sales Factory) Crowdfunding is also a function of the Picardy Protocol that allows fans to create crowdfund contracts to fund projects and creators.

The community acting as a DAO (3rd DAO), governs the affairs of Picardy protocol and proper usage. The 3rd DAO presides over decisions being made, like artistes or creators to invest in with the liquidity pool contributed by the 3rd Vault investors. The 3rd DAO also takes charge of the services & products provided by the platform using the protocol and any upgrades or updates needed to the protocol. The 3rd DAO is made up of fans of creators, creators, holders (members of the community).

The 3rd Vault is created to act as a liquidity pool for the 3rd DAO vault investors (community), to invest in a community vetted artist or other interest generating projects. Proposals are submitted to the DAO to choose potential good investments opportunities in creators or artistes. The various vaults created are to be invested in DeFi protocols, investing in independent artists who have been voted by the community and in conjunction with our primary music distribution platform, to create distribution deals.

How we built it

The Picardy Protocol is build with mostly with solidity as we were more focused on how to expand the usage of smart contract DEPLOYED Smart Contract Addresses on BTT:

Challenges we ran into

One of the challenges we ran into is inability to deploy on the Donau BTTC test net after so many hours. Another is understanding the communication between smart contracts.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of being able to put out a functioning demo to test out with. It’s been an exciting time getting to know and understand how a protocol is built and building one. We’ve accomplished having to build with only two people carrying the technical team

What we learned

I learnt that smart contracts are best built upgradable. We’ve learnt that a smart contract is simply a database as long as you know how to communicate with it. We’ve also learnt the best ways to google search. Lastly, we learnt how to communicate with other developers and help mates.

What's next for Picardy Protocol

-Fully building out the protocol for developers and creators to create with. -Efficiently merging our new semi label music distribution service together with the Picardy Protocol to improve and empower independent artistes and creators.
