Inspiration
It was heavily inspired off many popular flashcard sites and also the prevalence of ai note tools.
What it does
It allows the user to create flash card sets and then have study games and problems based on them. It also has a built in ai tutor to teach the users words or concepts they don't understand. It also is unique to other study tools as it has an ai grader so free response questions.
How we built it
We used VScode, with python and HTML with flask to create the website. We then use an open ai key to add in ai functionality. We then created a front page with multiple choices that provide options for different study methods including ai graded questions or a matching game.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into issues with the implementation of ai, breaking or causing the website to not function/not start properly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Implementing ai into a website as it's most our first time experimenting with ai implementation.
What we learned
We learned a lot about working with flask and how it talks to and fro with the front and back end
What's next for Phil the Tutor
Phil the Tutor might be improved to provide more comprehensive questions and have a greater flashcard set design that allows for easier editing. Also functionality on sending a code to kahoot style group activity games and codes to get access to other peoples flash card sets.
