Inspiration

The rising problem of counterfeit medicines and lack of transparency in pharmaceutical supply chains inspired us to build a secure system that ensures drug authenticity and patient safety using blockchain technology.

What it does PharmaTrack System tracks pharmaceutical products across the entire supply chain—from manufacturer to distributor, pharmacy, and end user—using blockchain to ensure transparency, traceability, and protection against counterfeit drugs.

How we built it We built the system on the Stacks blockchain using Clarity smart contracts to securely record and verify every transaction in the drug supply chain. The platform enables participants to update and track product movement in a transparent and tamper-proof way.

Challenges we ran into Understanding and implementing Clarity smart contracts, ensuring secure data recording on the blockchain, and designing an efficient tracking workflow for multiple supply chain stakeholders were some of the main challenges.

Accomplishments that we're proud of We successfully developed a blockchain-based tracking prototype that enhances transparency, improves trust in pharmaceutical distribution, and helps combat counterfeit drugs.

What we learned Through this project, we learned about blockchain-based supply chain management, smart contract development on Stacks, decentralized data integrity, and the importance of transparency in healthcare systems.

What's next for PharmaTrack System Next, we plan to integrate QR-based product verification, develop a user-friendly dashboard for stakeholders, and expand the system with real-time analytics and mobile support for pharmacies and patients.
