Inspiration

The current methods for accessing internship experiences, particularly for 3rd-year students seeking insights from past PEY interns are inefficient and unreliable. Existing platforms like Glassdoor and Reddit often present outdated or limited information, making it challenging for students to gain accurate and comprehensive insights into various roles and companies.

What it does

Our portal aims to revolutionize the way 3rd-year students access invaluable insights from past PEY (Professional Experience Year) interns. No more sifting through unreliable, outdated anecdotes on platforms like Glassdoor or Reddit. With our platform, students can log in and gain access to summarized experiences directly from recent PEY interns. These summaries provide key points and insights gleaned from their roles and companies, offering a comprehensive overview that is both reliable and up-to-date. Additionally, PEY students who have completed their reports can effortlessly upload them to our platform, enriching the pool of knowledge available to their peers. Welcome to a new era of informed career exploration.

How we built it

We developed a Flask application integrated with an SQL database for backend functionality, complemented by HTML and CSS for frontend design. Users access the platform via login credentials to view internship experiences on a dashboard. PEY reports are uploaded, parsed into text, and transmitted to an AWS Lambda API. Leveraging AWS Bedrock, the API performs prompt engineering, generating summarized results for key insights. These summaries are then displayed on the dashboard, providing users with streamlined access to valuable internship experiences for informed decision-making and career exploration.
