Inspiration
My inspiration stems from my friends and my sister who constantly search shelters' catalogs and may be interested, but are met with the daunting level of action needed to take for adoption. PetMatch bridges the gap between passive searching and actively searching.
What it does
The mission is to match animals and pets in need as fast and efficient as possible in order to free up space and keep shelter availability consistent.
How we built it
HTML,CSS,JavaScript
Challenges we ran into
Mostly design aspects, what colors make the most sense for our project. (Still tentative and open for changes)
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Officially published with GitHub Pages in 2 days of building for this hackathon!
What we learned
Implement efficient functionality with JS with organization of pet profiles within a list, rather than using loops.
What's next for PetMatch
Create a working login page, Add google maps API to search for shelters nearby. Implement more detailed descriptions of pets. Reach out to shelters who would like to demo with my project. On each "Adopt Me" click, it will send a message of interest to the shelter and spark a connection. Candidate can either opt to see their pet of interest in-person and then sign papers, or sign within PetMatch using an e-sign application like DocuSign.
