Animal shelters are overpacked with people's pets in the aftermath of hurricane Harvey.
What it does
Utilizing the aggregated animal shelter databases, search for a pet by photo. Find similar looking pets out of tens of thousands.
How we built it
We match using semantic analysis of images and cache information in a scalable database to match against.
Challenges we ran into
None we couldn't overcome.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Pulling together a vast database of pets and augmenting the dataset with semantic encodings was a stretch for 36 hours. We're very proud of what we've accomplished!

What's next for petConnect
We plan to deploy the website in the following days. After that it is a matter of getting the word out that people can use this service to find their loved ones.
