Inspiration
When developing an idea we realized a common issue most programmers and office workers face is bad posture. We wanted to create something to combat that.
What it does
Perfect Posture helps you maintain optimal posture effortlessly with cutting-edge technology. Using your webcam, our minimalistic tool monitors your posture in real time, providing instant feedback whenever you slouch or deviate from healthy alignment. Designed for simplicity, especially for older users, Perfect Posture empowers you to reduce strain, prevent pain, and enhance your overall well-being—without the need for wearables or complex instructions. Whether you're working, relaxing, or on the go, align your body and elevate your life with Perfect Posture.
How we built it
We used react to create the frontend, and python for backend. To track posture we used OpenCV and media pipe. The users webcam would send data to our machine learning model, and different measurements between tracking points would determine if a user was deviating from proper posture.
Challenges we ran into
We had trouble integrating the users web cam to the OpenCV and media pipe, ultimately we ran out of time. But it was a great challenge to take on nonetheless.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of coming up with a unique; given the prompt of self improvement, we felt as though many teams would focus on mental health, fitness, or schedule makers. We wanted to build something unique made by programmers, to help programmers.
What we learned
We learned many new frameworks, sharpened our skills in react, learned web RTC, open CV to process data from webcams and most importantly, how to work as a team.
What's next for Perfect Posture
We hope to complete our website as a passion project to add to our portfolios as we believe there are a variety of skills involved in completing this project.
