Inspiration
Given how Covid has separated many of us, it has become increasingly harder to connect and meet new students and peers. That’s why we wanted to find a way to create an app which could allow students-especially Peralta students-to connect through activities and events.
What it does
Using this app, students can better connect with other students or faculty by viewing all activities and events organized by Peralta students and faculty. Users can see the exact time, date, number of participants, description, of the organized events. Users can also chat with other users to allow another avenue of connection. It's not only just for social connection but also can help students solve their academic problems.
How we built it
We used Figma and photohsop to build this app.
Challenges we ran into
Given how little coding experience we all have, we had to resort to using other methods of creating this application. Although this is our first time to attend hackathon, we try our best to get this job done.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Although we had little coding experience, we also had no experience with Figma (first day users), so we are proud to have learned, and created Peralta Activities using the <24 hours given to us.
What we learned
After this, we feel we have a much better understanding of Figma, and how to create future app prototypes in the future.
What's next for Peralta Activities
In the future, we would like to try to implement this with an IDE to create a fully published app. Once this is done, we would also like to include pictures and polls as options to add onto the description of events. Once these are done, we hope to expand to other areas/regions-as Covid-19 has not only affected Peralta students and staff.
