Inspiration
We were inspired by our love for food as well as interested in ways of incorporating machine learning in website search engines.
What it does
The idea behind this project was to incorporate the Edamam recipe search api with image recognition and possibly machine learning to be able to easily find recipes with ingredients that an individual would have in their fridge.
How we built it
We used flask and python primarily and then incorporated html and css to create the webpage for the users to view.
Challenges we ran into
- Unfortunately, we were not able to learn enough about TensorFlow so we were not able to incorporate any machine learning.
- We also struggled with connecting the Flask with the HTML as the forms template for html did not want to render on the local host.
- We also found some difficulties connecting our domain name, pennepastabilities.tech with our files.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to effectively use the recipe api as well as flask to create a semi-working recipe search engine on our local host!
What we learned
We learned a lot about Flask, which is something none of us have ever used before.
What's next for PennePastabilities
In the future, we hope to officially connect PennePastabilities to its Domain name and incorporate image recognition so people can upload or take pictures from their mobile devices to search for recipes on the internet in an fast and efficient way!
