Inspiration

Our inspiration was endangered species. We were looking at endangered species and saw some very cute penguins which both of us like. We decided we would create a website that shows and teaches you about the endangered species.

What it does

This website opens to a main page that tells you to click to learn more. You can navigate using the navigation bar. Those buttons will take you to a species page where you learn about the different species, a locations page which tells you where they are located and finally you can navigate back to the home page.

How we built it

We built this using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. We used HTML to build the main parts of the website, CSS to style it and JavaScript for the extra touches such as the button navigation.

Challenges we ran into

Some challenges we faced were setting up the team to do different tasks, fixing up problems with CSS and figuring out how to build a functioning button using JavaScript. We struggled a lot with figuring out how JavaScript works and how we could build a button. We tested a bunch of things to get it to work and tried a whole lot of tutorials to finally get it. We had the same problem with CSS. Our div elements in html were organized in such a way that eventually started to overlap meaning we had to test a bunch of things to finally get it to where it is now.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that throughout this whole experience that we didn't give up. There were many times we were about to give up. For example, when building the JavaScript button and fixing up the CSS we had so many problems that we were going to give up. We tried so hard to get it all done and eventually we did it! We are also proud of our hover in CSS because it looks really cool on the final website being able to change the color of a button when hovering over it.

What we learned

We learned many different ways of using HTML and CSS to build and style websites. We learned some cool features such as hover, and background-blend-mode. These were some cool features we learned and used to style our website to make it more interesting.

What's next for Penguins

Finally, moving forward we will add more species to the list and possibly come out with a game that teaches you how they survive in the wild and what it's like. We think adding that could be a great addition.
