Inspiration

PeerScript was inspired by the frequent prescription errors that occur in medical and clinical settings. Given the sensitivity of prescription information, it can be challenging for physicians, pharmacists, and nurses to consult each other effectively. What better solution than having your own private AI assistant equipped with all the necessary information?

What It Does

PeerScript offers AI-driven feedback based on a patient’s personal and medical details, as well as their current prescriptions. This allows doctors to access recommendations for treatment courses and alternative medications, providing a reliable source for informed decision-making.

How We Built It

Designed for scalability, PeerScript features a robust database that can be easily expanded. We implemented MongoDB to manage patient and medication collections, enabling quick edits and updates. The application is hosted on Node.js, interacting with Groq AI, an open-source API that generates tailored AI responses based on the information stored in the database.

Challenges We Faced

Building PeerScript from scratch within a tight 36-hour deadline was a significant challenge. Connecting the backend to the frontend involved considerable trial and error, especially since our team had limited prior experience with MongoDB. Learning to utilize endpoints effectively and transfer information took time.

Accomplishments We’re Proud Of

We take pride in PeerScript’s scalability and potential for growth. It enhances the standard of medical care while minimizing biases related to patient conditions and prescription dosages.

What We Learned

Throughout this experience, our team learned to balance workloads effectively. One member focused on integrating Groq API with MongoDB, another tackled the backend and frontend connection, while the third polished the frontend. It was a collaborative effort that pushed us to meet the deadline.

The future looks bright for PeerScript, with ample opportunities for expansion. With a more sophisticated model, we can enhance accuracy and provide even greater support for medical professionals at all levels.
