Inspiration ---

Accessibility of information is a key to anything. Insurance for a pet animal is as important as any other health insurance or auto insurance.

What it does ---

We have built a mobile application using Android Studio/Java to promote Pet insurance. The users can avail discounts in numerous ways as a promotional offers like uploading their pet pics and sharing the information with their friends and family. There is also coupon codes available over the app to avail. The application has also stats about comparing our PawSure insurance with other insurance to showcase how good our policies are with no hidden fees or anything. The user can register their pet in by providing all the details and get instant quotes via email. Also, the app showcases inbuilt reviews by our customers. Also one of the add-on features in our mobile application is immediate customer support also has direct access to vets associated with StateFarm. It is a complete user-friendly mobile application where everything could be accessed in the tip of our fingers.

How we built it ---

We initially started with brainstorming all the possible ways to attract customers to pet insurance and the information readily available as soon as the customer login. The 1st step included designing the mobile application and all the images and other icons required for the application. We designed the application accordingly keeping in mind the user-friendliness. We divided our team with different tasks to each member and eventually rotated our tasks to have a complete overview of the application.

Challenges we ran into ---

It was an amazing roller coaster ride in building this app where we came across a lot of challenges that resulted in thoughtful learning and overcoming them First and foremost was tackling the business problem to attract people towards pet insurance and we added champaign like click the photo of my pet and doing so they will receive coupons of discounts to attract the customer. Second, we wanted to completely focus on the new product pet insurance and we gave multiple banners in the app that attracts the attention of new users. then the main challenge was developing the mobile application as every member of our team was either a full stack developer or was into data science-related majors. Starting with the android studio with limited knowledge of android studio. We explored it and started with the development process. Third, we tried to add on ML model to predict the breed of the dog based on the image clicked and we were able to achieve the prediction in spite of the accuracy challenges. We could not integrate with the app due to the time constraint which we plan to do as a next step and provide that feature in the next release. Fourth, our team did not have any designers and hence it was challenging to add the images and animation to the app which we learned and were able to add it to the app. Finally, the app was not responsive to different android devices due to the constraints in the android studio we overcame it by developing different resource files for different devices.

The applications UI , userfriendly ness and mainly its features which are very useful and a satisfaction of completing at such short time

What we learned ---

We learned fast-paced project development and working in a team with short deadlines. Learning Android Studio is secondary but the skill of working in faced pased with short term deadline is something we learnt greatly

What's next for PawSure ---

We tried to added on ML model to predict the breed of the dog based on the image clicked and we were able to achieve the prediction in spite of the accuracy challenges. However, we could not integrate with the app due to the time constraint which we plan to do as a next step and provide that feature in the next release. In upcoming release we would like to focus more on the products that are not popular among the consumer and find pragmatics ways and means to attract new customers to them. As a part of next step we would like to find business problems that can be solved with ML and add intuitive way to integrate the solution as an add-on feature that helps consumers in a fruitful way. Also, we will add more security features, create APIs to auto renew by attaching their bank accounts and make the app more powerful by adding features that will reduce the need for the consumers to physically come to the office or interact with the insurance agent. Ofcourse accommodating all regulations set by the federal and local agencies.
