Inspiration

Ever heard of Cybersecurity? Probably have, cyberattacks happen to all of us! Cybersecurity is when we try to protect ourselves from cyberattacks. Cyberattacks are when people hack computers, accounts, devices, etc…. Cyberattacks are yet to be a huge problem in the whole world! You might have experienced it yourself, and that is why we need to make a stop to this! I myself have experienced hacks from my computer. This normally is caused, because sometimes your passwords or logins are not secure enough. I wanted to create a website that put a stop to this whole problem.

What it does

I created a website that generates a completely random password. You can choose how many characters the password should contain, if it should include uppercase or lowercase letters, and also determine if the password should incorporate numbers and symbols! The website will generate a completely random password, based on your inputs, which you can use to secure your logins! Along with this, my website also has a place to store all your passwords. Although, just make sure to not make it too visible to outsiders!

How we built it

I used repl.it as my coding platform. I brainstormed the look of the website on Canva, and began to actually code out the website using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript! As I came across many problems, it was found to be Google as my helpful resource!

Challenges we ran into

One main challenge I came across in the beginning, was being able to find a solution to this drastic problem! I was able to come to a conclusion that I could create a password generator. However, since these passwords are completely random and hard to memorize, I then thought of a solution of storing the passwords. The problem was figuring out how to do so. Although I wanted the passwords to be more protected, I simply thought of creating a login system, where you would be able to log-in, and then have access to all your passwords. However, there wasn’t enough time, and it got a little confusing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am extremely proud of being able to create a whole website combined with mainly JavaScript! With that being said, I am also really proud of creating a password generator based on the users inputs. Along with that, creating a place to save and keep your passwords safe, was also a huge accomplishment I am proud of!

What we learned

I learned a lot about JavaScript, like the functions, variables, and conditional statements! I also learned a lot about the problem in Cyberattacks and came to know what exactly is Cybersecurity!

What's next for PassSafe

If I had more time to research, and understand more JavaScript, I would want to create a login system where, only if you login, you will be able to access the passwords you saved!
