Inspiration
Both of us love traveling and collecting little trinkets along the way. But postcards? They’re expensive, easy to forget, and honestly... who even sends them anymore? Still, there's something undeniably nostalgic and charming about them. We wanted to bring that experience into the digital world without losing the magic.
So we built Papertrails - a way to collect and send postcards by actually visiting real places, and sharing them with friends.
How we built it
We designed Papertrails in Figma, using the Icons8 plugin for assets, and Adobe Illustrator to create the logo and start screen illustration. We focused on interaction design (after we tuned into the workshop!) and crafting a cozy visual style.
Challenges we ran into
We’re both still learning UX design, so navigating Figma workflows and figuring out how to prototype interactions took some time, but we worked through it together!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We actually finished everything we wanted to finish!
What we learned
How to work collaboratively in Figma and split tasks effectively.
What's next for Papertrails
We’d love to continue tweaking the design and maybe even turn it into a real, working app.
