Inspiration
International students and individuals far from home are more prone to panic attacks, often due to a lack of immediate support. This project aims to address that gap and provide help during panic episodes.
What it does
The system detects when someone has a panic attack and contacts their friends or family for assistance.
How we built it
Using Swift in Xcode, we integrated data collection from an Apple Watch and a sensor, sending it to Swift for analysis
Challenges we ran into
One of the key challenges was creating a seamless pipeline from the hardware (sensors) to software to process and analyze usable data.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully created a functional prototype that can be expanded upon, which detects panic attacks and alerts the user’s contacts.
What we learned
We learned how to use Xcode and Swift, integrate them with other technologies, and utilize libraries to enhance functionality.
What's next for PanicBuddy
We plan to expand beyond heartbeat monitoring by adding a breathing sensor to guide the user through calming breathing exercises in sync with another person.
