Inspiration

Right now, around the world, the contagious coronavirus disease is being spread. Many people can quickly recover from it, or don't even notice that they have it, but some people have tragic effects when exposed to it. The coronavirus is mainly spread by when an infected person is in close contact with someone else. A common way to lower the transmission of Covid-19 is called social distancing, which is keeping a safe space between you and other people. However, many people don't understand this concept or choose not to follow it, so the purpose of this game is to show how important social distancing is and to also have fun while playing it.

What it does

You have a character and the objective is to clear each level. You can do this by not touching any infected people and making it from the start to the end of the level. There are some easter eggs which you can find, as well.

How I built it

It is built using python 3 and pygame.

Challenges I ran into

As a group, we had almost no experience using pygame and we had to learn how to use pygame while implementing more parts of the game. It was a challenge to complete it in 36 hours, and if we had more time, we would have included other features.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Some things we are proud of is that the game runs obviously, and that we have learned a lot about both python and pygame during this short period of time.

What's next for Pandemic Panic

Hopefully after the hackathon, we can continue to work on the game, and increase complexity.
