Outside Jam

Inspiration In the heart of San Francisco, Outside Lands is a festival that brings together music, art, and culture in a celebration of creativity. As an AI enthusiast and music lover, I was inspired by the idea of merging these two worlds. The goal was to create an AI that could emulate the lyrical style of the diverse artists performing at the festival, providing a unique, AI-powered musical experience.

What it does Outside Jam is a plugin for ChatGPT that generates lyrics on any given topic in the style of a randomly selected Outside Lands artist. Leveraging a fine-tuned Llama 7B model via Brev & OpenAI, the app can emulate a variety of musical styles, creating a unique lyrical composition every time. It's like having a personal songwriting assistant that can channel the spirit of your favorite artists.

How we built it We started by collecting a diverse dataset of lyrics from artists performing at Outside Lands. This data was then used to fine-tune the Llama 7B model, ensuring it could accurately emulate the lyrical styles of the artists. The model was then integrated into a ChatGPT plugin, creating a user-friendly interface for generating lyrics.

Challenges we ran into One of the main challenges was ensuring the model could accurately emulate the diverse range of musical styles present at Outside Lands. This required careful fine-tuning and a lot of testing to ensure the generated lyrics were not only stylistically accurate but also coherent and engaging.

What's next for Outside Jam We're excited to continue improving Outside Jam. We plan to expand the range of artists the model can emulate and improve its ability to generate lyrics in response to more specific user prompts. We also plan to explore potential collaborations with musicians and artists, using Outside Jam as a tool for creative exploration and collaboration.
