Inspiration

What inspired me to make this mobile website was to create a community-oriented food platform that can bring people together and eat healthier while striving to support our local farmers, producers, and environment.

What it does

This mobile website promotes sustainable agriculture and supports small businesses while also encouraging people to eat healthier and more locally sourced foods.

How we built it

I built this mobile website using HTML and CSS in Replit. While all the UI/UX was drawn by me on my iPad with the apps ibisPaint and Tayasui Sketches.

Challenges we ran into

A challenge I ran into was my limited timeframe while drawing and developing the mobile website.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am extremely proud of the presentation of my project. I choose a specific item for every market, whether it be food, drinks, or flowers, special to its prospective market. Each item reflects a feedback from the community, based on their reviews of the local markets. I wanted to make sure to emphasize how this website is to bring the community together and use it as a reliable source for information on authentic products.

What we learned

While developing this website, I developed a deeper awareness of how I can educate those around me about the environment and the benefits of sustainable farming practices by supporting our local farmers.

What's next for Our Roots

I plan on making Our Roots more community based by developing forums for others to discuss and guide each other on our agriculture and eating habits. I want my website to help others collaborate and give those interested in our sustainable food and environment new opportunities.
