Inspiration

People with differences have always been separated in history and the present, whether it be by race, gender, ability, and looks. I wanted to make a project that could bridge that gap and let people of opposite interests connect to create shared experiences together.

What it does

To start, you have to fill out a quick quiz/survey to grasp your interests, then you get to select a minigame to play with another person. Once another person finishes the quiz and selects the same minigame, you both are paired together to play the minigame, once completed you both can chat what you experienced, share laughs, and continue chatting and becoming friends.

How we built it

I coded most of it but when roadblocks occured I looked online and used AI to find documentation where I could actually learn the concepts and use them instead of just putting it on my code willy-nilly.

Challenges we ran into

Making the two players connect was difficult at the start. Later on, the project sometimes bugged to keep the localhost going and crashed sometimes.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud that I was able to make a project that at first I had no hope that I could accomplish.

What we learned

I learned how to actually learn commands more properly and how to correctly absorb information I find.

What's next for Opposites Connect

I hope to add more minigames, make more animations, make it generally smoother, and make it work on different devices because it is only possible to use on one device right now which defeats most of the purpose.

INSTRUCTIONS TO LAUNCH CORRECTLY

After getting the files, go to localhost:3002 on two seperate tabs of the same device and then fill out everything.
