Inspiration

This all started with us being MESA students and going through a whole MESA Year ourselves. Through this experience, we realized how confusing it was to navigate through all the MESA processes whether it be registration for teams to keeping updated with the drafts of the rules. Staying updated with the status of our registration was difficult and searching for the right draft of the rules became more and more harder.

What It Does

Operation Mobile is an App that centralizes all Mesa’s information and registration processes so you can do it all in one app. To add to that, you can also see the latest announcements from advisors, competition rules/guidelines, student resources, and internship opportunities. The app also has additional features specifically for MESA Days such as personalized schedules based on what competitions you’re in and a map of the campus.

How We Built It

We used JotForm to build our app and forms.

Challenges We Ran Into

Some of the obstacles we ran into are the time constraint and the limitations of the software JotForms. Because of the limitations of JotForms, we were not able to enable notifications, add a GPS feature, and a chat option. In addition, the limitation of templates and customization of forms were limited and not aesthetically pleasing. We had to work around these limitations in order to achieve the prototype we have now.

We are very proud of our video. We put a lot of hours into revising and recording it.

What We Learned

We learned how to make the most of our time, work around limitations of software, and how problems could be solved in many different ways.

What's Next for Operation Mobile

Looking forward, Because we are limited by the software used, our next steps are to actually build the app. We plan to officially implement the live map/GPS feature, live advisor notifications, supervisor/officer to student communication, and to integrate all of MESA
