Usage of Streamlit

As there is poor audio quality, I would like to go over how we used Streamlit in this project: We really enjoyed exploring Streamlit in this project. We got to use amazing data visualization tools, quick renders, AMAZING documentation, Streamlit Community Cloud for deployment (check the link below to test this project now!) It was an extremely powerful workflow.

Inspiration

Starting with opensource is EXTREMELY daunting 😱. What to do, what to learn, whom to ask, and most important of all, where to contribute!❓ As it was something all of out team members had experienced 🙋, we all decided to create a platform which helps you analyse where you stand, and find perfect projects for you to contribute to 🥳!

What it does

OpenMatch is a platform dedicated to simplifying 😉 the open-source project discovery process. It matches contributors with projects that align with their skills and interests ✨, making project selection easier and more efficient. It is designed to make your experience with open source, much more smoother 📈. All you need to do is simply put in your GitHub authorization, and with that, it is able to find and visualize all of your statistics for you.

Moreover, it finds the perfect projects for you to contribute in 💝. No need to scroll through dozens of github pages 😵, when your next project is one click away. On the basis of your skills, it finds out what projects you may match to the best! ❤️‍🔥

How we built it

OpenMatch is built using Python 🐍 and its frameworks along with the incorporation of GithubAPI with GraphQL. These technologies were new 😕 for all of our team members, but they were extremely powerful once we understood them 💥. Easy visualization and rendering with Streamlit along with the powerful GraphQL was a very potent workflow, one that we wish to explore further. We also used the power of friendship and Blahaj 🦈 to tie it together

Challenges we ran into

My tea was too hot and it spilt today. It was truly a traumatic experience 😢

3 out of our 4 members got the chance to explore Streamlit for the first time 💃. It was challenging, but the amazing documentation 🥰 really helped pull us through. GraphQL was also a new technology for us. The additional differences in the timezones ⏲️ also made communication harder. But we managed to complete our project and make something great that we all are proud of. 🙌

Accomplishments that we are proud of

We are really proud of working together and creating something with technologies we didn't have experience with. The idea of the project is truly something we believe in, 😎 and we want to take if further even after the hackathon. Especially with Hacktoberfest coming up, we are extremely excited to see where this goes! 😃

What's next for OpenMatch

The future of OpenMatch is brimming with potential to elevate the open-source collaboration experience. Addition of insights, more AI technologies, better algorithms, etc, and more to come!
