Inspiration

We were inspired by the game Pokemon Go. We wanted to make a game that worked like Pokemon Go, but for constellations.

What it does

Our app prompts the user with a random constellation visible from their location. The object of the game is to take a picture of that constellation in the night sky.

How we built it

We used React for our frontend and Flask on the backend. To determine if an image contains a particular constellation, we use OpenCV.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into innumerable challenges with git. We even accidentally deleted some of our code because git is such a git. We also ran into issues with fine-tuning the OpenCV model. Finally, as many of us were new to React, we ran into many issues with setting up our environment and using the packages we needed.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of ourselves for pulling through with this project, and for our front-end developer's creative eye in adding fine details to our website, such as the 3d earth in the background.

What we learned

Through this project, we learned how to work as a team, manage our code together,

What's next for OnlyCons

We hope to implement a database to add users, a leaderboard, and to further gamify the experience overall. We also hope to make this into a mobile app to make it more accessible and easy to use.

What's next for OnlyCons

Our AI system unfortunately didn't get working in time. However, the frontend functionality is present, so we hope to integrate our recognition system sometime in the future. We hope to implement a database to add users, a leaderboard, and to further gamify the experience overall. We also hope to make this into a mobile app to make it more accessible and easy to use.
