Inspiration

Credit card rewards can be complicated. We wanted to make choosing the best card as easy as One Tap.

What it does

One Tap pops up whenever you make an online purchase to tell you exactly which card maximizes your rewards. All in One Tap. Advanced features include transaction history, spending analysis, special offers, and a personalized AI card recommendation to make sure you're using the best card for you.

How we built it

We built One Tap using JavaScript to make a Chrome Extension, and HTML for our website. The backend is connected to MongoDB, and we also use the Gemini API and Render.

Challenges we ran into

Creating a chrome extension is hard. We needed to read site data, autofill and click through checkout pages. On top of that, we had to call the Gemini API, work with MongoDB for the backend, and manage the deployment using Render.

What we learned

We learned how to work across the full stack- from frontend UI/UX in a Chrome extension to backend database management and API integration.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that we were able to take a complex, real-world problem and turn it into a frictionless experience. Building a fully functional Chrome extension that interacts with live checkout pages was a huge milestone. We also successfully integrated AI to deliver tailored recommendations, and simulated making real purchases with CapitalOne cards. Most importantly, we created something that users can immediately understand and benefit from.
