Inspiration

We brainstormed and researched potential issues in areas we wanted to look into such as issues surrounding women, diversity in tech, and the environment. We agreed on the environment and chose to focus on the hurricane, inspired by the current hurricanes happening in Florida. We did further research into hurricanes in Florida and the struggles people faced when trying to recover from a hurricane and we chose to focus on the financial aspect of natural disaster recovery.

What it does

After more research, we realized that the information to learn how to recover from financial problems we scattered across the internet and required multiple google searches which can get overwhelming, especially if they do not know what questions to ask. We decided to create an app that contained all this information into one space. Features of the app include: 2 options to choose from: Loans and Permits; Learn, apply, and check eligibility for various loans available to the user; Generate a pre-filled permit by answering 2 questions; Request assistance for assessing damages done to their property

How we built it

We used the platform Figma to create a prototype of our app with accurate functionality of how the app would work if it was actually coded.

Challenges

Time constraint. Due to the allotted time, we choose to create a prototype to show the flow of the app in Figma; Navigating Figma: We had to learn certain new aspects of Figma that we were unfamiliar with while we designed the app in order to create it the way we wanted.; Deciding on the way the app looked: The layout and design of the app kept changing but we finally settled on a design we liked

What's next for One Stop

With the right dedication, One Stop could be implemented into a real app that can be pushed out to help natural disaster survivors. This issue is very current and relevant, given the amount of hurricanes passing through the country recently. We believe the app could be very helpful to survivors that are uninformed or uneducated about their financial options and next steps after suffering a tragedy.
