Navigating through my university's onboarding process felt like trying to untangle a knot while blindfolded. Every click led to a new maze of scattered information, leaving me lost in a sea of login confusion and fragmented forms spread across different platforms. Dead links and outdated data only added to my frustration, and the lack of clear guidance left me feeling stranded. Hours of valuable time slipped away as I struggled to piece together the puzzle, delaying my ability to fully immerse myself in the excitement of starting my academic journey. This disjointed experience emphasized the urgent need for a unified onboarding app to streamline the process and spare future students from the same bewildering ordeal.

What it does

The onboarding app serves as a lifeline, rescuing students like me from the chaos of navigating through scattered information. With a seamless interface and intuitive design, it consolidates all necessary forms, documents, and resources into one centralized platform. No longer do I need to hunt for elusive login portals or wade through a labyrinth of links; the app guides me step-by-step through the entire onboarding process. It provides real-time updates and notifications, ensuring I never miss a deadline or overlook crucial information. From housing applications to course registration, everything I need is right at my fingertips.

How we built it

I utilized Figma for the design phase of the project. Once I had a clear vision of the product's design, I proceeded to select the appropriate tech stack and began implementation.

Challenges we ran into

Integrating MaterialUI with React proved challenging due to its unfamiliarity, and crafting an aesthetically pleasing design posed difficulty, both marking significant hurdles in the development process.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Completing the app solo and on time stands as a remarkable achievement. Despite the challenges of working independently, I successfully navigated through the entire development process, from conceptualization to execution, ensuring every aspect of the app met my standards of excellence.

What's next for Onboarding experience

Next steps for the app involve implementing an admin page to efficiently track students' onboarding progress, distinguishing those who have successfully completed the process from those who may require further assistance. Additionally, integrating a chatbot feature can enhance user experience by providing quick responses to basic inquiries from students, further streamlining the onboarding journey. This combination of administrative capabilities and interactive support features will enhance the app's functionality and effectiveness in facilitating a smooth and responsive onboarding experience for all users.
