OceanPal

Inspiration The inspiration behind our initiative is the urgent need to address the critical situation facing sea turtles and their survival. As individuals with a passion for technology and a love for the environment, we recognize the potential to use our skills to help make a positive impact on the environment and the world around us.

What it does OceanPal is a revolutionary app that uses AI to predict when and where turtles will lay their eggs. By analyzing environmental data such as temperature, humidity, and moon phases, the app helps conservationists protect nesting areas and minimize disturbances, ultimately saving turtle eggs. Additionally, OceanPal serves as a collection center for volunteers to participate in beach cleanups, reducing plastic pollution.

How we built it We built our solution using the Dart programming language and the Flutter framework.

Challenges we ran into We faced several challenges during the development process. One of the biggest challenges we encountered was the limited time frame we had to work with. Unfortunately, due to the limited of time, our AI model wasn't fully developed, and we weren't able to incorporate it into the app as we initially planned.

Accomplishments that we're proud of First, we were able to apply our problem-solving and technical skills to develop an innovative solution that can help protect the environment and the endangered sea turtles. Additionally, we worked effectively as a team, overcoming challenges and collaborating to produce "OceanPal". Most importantly, we're proud of the impact we've had in raising awareness about environmental conservation and inspiring others to take action.

What we learned We have discovered the seriousness of the environmental situation and the need for immediate action after digging deeply into the information. We also discovered that by using technology, we may significantly contribute to the preservation of species in risk of extinction, such as sea turtles, and to the reduction of the negative consequences of plastic pollution on our oceans. In order to overcome challenges and accomplish our objectives, we also learnt the value of cooperation, problem-solving techniques, and tactical tactics.

What's next for OceanPal In the future, OceanPal plans to include a chatbot that educates users on sustainable living practices and provides tips for reducing waste and energy usage. The app aims to empower individuals to make a difference in their daily lives, inspiring a wider movement towards a more sustainable future. With OceanPal, we aspire to create a community of like-minded individuals who share a passion for environmental conservation. By taking action to combat plastic pollution and protect marine life, we can help preserve the beauty and health of our oceans for generations to come.
