Inspiration
The inspiration for Nutrio lies in our need to share awareness of food intake and nutrition from our favorite recipes. On discussing the ideas for the project and going through viable options, we stumbled across an awesome API that struck an idea among us. The idea pretty much resonated with the team to make a health-based platform for people that are really interested in finding exotic recipes and also sharing the type of food they want to have.
What it does
The platform lets the users input in the name of the food and the type of food they want with all the necessary preferences. On submitting, Nutrio will go through the preferences and filter out the desired recipes and foods with the nutrient composition.
How we built it
We built Nutrio using Reactjs with UI made entirely on Material UI. We used a nutrition API to run the platform functionalities and the backend.
Challenges we ran into
- Developing the homepage with the appropriate styling
- Developing the carousel for the homepage
- Connecting the Nutrition API with the frontend
- Deploying the platform onto hosting websites.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- We made a functioning platform!
- Connecting the front end to the backend was a huge achievement in and of itself.
What we learned
- Time management
- Task Management
- Teamwork
What's next for Nutrio
At the moment, we are thinking of developing it to have a better frontend and better UX.
