Inspiration

The inspiration for the Numerical Reasoning Test came from researching successful hackathon projects and real-world experience in internship and job interviews.

What the Numerical Analysis Test Does

The test gives a way to measure ones numerical reason so they can know what to expect when entering job interviews and help them improve.

How We Built It

We designed the initial idea, put forth extensive research, and built it up. Once we got a solid foundation, we used WPF and C# to design the program, and Photoshop to design the UI.

Challenges We Ran Into

The biggest challenge in the project was randomly generating wrong answers that weren't the real answer, and weren't the same as the other wrong answers. There were also complications with designing the UI to make sure it was functional and looked good.

Accomplishments That We're Proud of

We completed our first hackathon!

What We Learned

We learned the importance of preparation, collaboration, and time management. We also learned that we should focus on our strengths, and the value of keeping things simple. We have learned what things we can do to prepare for another hackathon.

What's Next for the Numerical Reasoning Test

To expand it to be able to meet the needs of various industries.

I gave inspiration for the initial project and collaborated with the other members to voice and resolve changes that needed to be made. I also did a lot of testing of the final product to ensure everything was working properly.

Trevor Eckhoff
I worked in Visual Studio to develop the C# WPF application. I was slightly familiar with WPF applications before but this hackathon helped hone my skills.

Luke Mirman
I worked on the application visual effects and graphics. I also worked in the design on the idea and how it should be presented to the users. I provided input to enhance the design and ease of use as well provided data sample tests.

This was my first Hackathon experience and I learned a lot from it.

Idea conceptualization, research, presentation design & delivery. As this was my first Hack-A-Thon, it opened my eyes to better approach a real life project situation.
