Inspiration
- Inspired by the QUX Design-a-thon theme “moments” and how people perceive time.
- Noticed that time feels faster as people experience fewer novel memories with age.
- Aimed to design a tool that helps users slow down, reconnect, and create meaningful moments.
What it does
- Delivers monthly solo and group challenge cards to spark new experiences.
- Lets users complete prompts and upload polaroid-style photos as keepsakes.
- Enables sharing on collaborative boards without social-media pressure.
How we built it
- Conducted research on time perception, novelty, and reflection.
- Created personas, flows, and sketches in FigJam.
- Built and refined prototypes in Figma.
- Simplified visuals and onboarding after mentor feedback.
Challenges we ran into
- Early gradients and colours clashed with the card system.
- Onboarding was too text-heavy and unclear.
- Needed stronger accessibility and contrast.
- Balancing simplicity with intuitive navigation.
Accomplishments that we’re proud of
- Built a cohesive, high-contrast visual system.
- Designed an onboarding flow with immediate user value.
- Created a flexible card system for personal and shared experiences.
- Strong alignment with the theme: creating moments, not just preserving them.
What we learned
- Accessibility and contrast dramatically improve UX.
- Simplicity often strengthens usability and storytelling.
- “Show, don’t tell” is essential in onboarding.
- Novel experiences can reshape users’ perception of time.
What’s next for NOVA
- Add a couples mode with tailored date ideas.
- Expand accessibility features.
- Push monthly prompts through lockscreen notifications.
- Conduct usability testing to refine the experience.
