Inspiration
As with all great ideas, the origin can be traced back to the great Michael Scott. The origin of this idea comes from _ The Office _, where Michael and Ryan pitch WUPHF.
We wanted to make that app (with a more practical focus), and deliver notifications to you on every platform imaginable.
What it does
NOTiFY allows an organization to send emergency notifications to its users on any platform of their choosing. Ranging from text messages to voice calls to Twitter DM's. This way no matter how you stay connected, you'll always be connected
How I built it
We're all adventurous web developers, so while two of us got to researching APIs and setting up a PHP back-end, the other two started a deep-dive into Polymer, a cutting-edge frontend framework.
Challenges I ran into
Polymer. Enough said.
Additionally, complying with the various APIs and their requirements was taxing and took several hours to set up
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We've got a great looking client side front-end and a flawless PHP backend. On top of that we got to take away some great new skills from API interaction to front-end development in a new framework
What I learned
Too many things to itemize
What's next for NOTiFY
We're thinking notification by Domino's pizza.
