Inspiration
Individuals who travel often encounter unfamiliar foods. Nothing but Nutrition bridges these gaps by helping them recognize potential allergens.
What it does
It uses the device's camera to scan an item's barcode and return all relevant nutritional information and allergens.
How we built it
A combination of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Flask was used to build Nothing but Nutrition.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled with choosing the right API with the widest amount of data, as well as integrating our barcode scanner script with our website, leading us to our use of Flask.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As our first hackathon, we were proud of our ability to pick up and learn the core of website design and version control (Github). Although much of our time was spent debugging and learning, we persisted until we reached a product we were satisfied with.
What we learned
We learned how to create basic websites and version control.
What's next for Nothing but Nutrition!
Designing a more immersive website that provides additional details about the food items!
