Whether it’s switching between note-taking tools, calculators, or reference materials, the process can be overwhelming. And let’s be honest—how many times have you found yourself opening Symbolab every time you hit a roadblock? We’ve been there too, and that’s exactly why we built Notesify.

What it Does

Notesify is a revolutionary desktop app designed to transform the way you take notes. It consolidates all your study tools into one seamless platform, eliminating the need to switch between multiple websites or apps. With Notesify, you can take notes, solve problems, and access resources—all in one place. Say goodbye to distractions and hello to productivity.

How We Built It

We built Notesify using a modern tech stack to ensure a smooth and responsive user experience. The app leverages:

Frontend: Rect for a fast and dynamic user interface.
Backend: Next.js and Express for handling server-side logic.
Database: Local storage so that user's notes do not leave their device
Authentication: Auth0 for a secure login system
Desktop Integration: Electron.js to package the app for desktop use.

Challenges We Ran Into

Integration Complexity: Combining multiple functionalities (note-taking, problem-solving, etc.) into a single app required careful planning and execution.
Performance Optimization: Ensuring the app runs smoothly on all devices, especially when handling large notes or complex calculations.
User Experience: Designing an intuitive interface that caters to both casual users and power users was a balancing act.

Offline Mode: Enabling users to access and edit their notes without an internet connection.
