Notely: Smarter Note-Taking with AI
We are three Computer Science students from the University of Toronto Scarborough, passionate about combining technology and learning. For two of us, this was our first-ever hackathon, and we even had to write an exam in the middle of the competition, a true test of balance and perseverance!
We created Notely, an intelligent note-taking app that uses the Gemini API to enhance, summarize, and clarify notes in real time. The goal was to make studying more productive by allowing users to interact directly with AI inside their notes.
Throughout the process, we learned about frontend and backend integration, real-time text editing, and AI API implementation. We also discovered the value of collaboration and creative problem-solving under tight deadlines.
Despite the time constraints and challenges, we built a functional and intuitive tool that helps students study smarter.
