Inspiration
Discord and Quarantine. Discord has been a great platform to connect with friends and family over large distances. One of the things we miss is family game nights. There are tons of online games to play, but their often there are not options for the less commonly known games. Creating discord bots to play these games is our solution.
What it does
- This is a Discord bot allows friends and family to virtually play the the card game Nope!
- For reference, here is the link for the rules of the game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xk0y7BSuJio&t=3s
How We built it
We used the discord.py python library
Challenges We ran into
- We ran into challenges implementing some the rules for the action cards.
- We did not anticipate how complicated it can be to implement all the features of the game
- There were a few times where we were stuck on implementing a certain feature for the game
- Effective time-management in order to finish our project on time
Accomplishments that we are proud of
- We are proud of getting the bot to function properly for most of the features for the game
- For most of us it is our first time making a discord bot and we are really glad about how it turned out
What we learned
- It is important it is to thoroughly plan before creating a project
- how to use git effectively
- We can first focus on aspects of the project that are easier to implement and then expand the project by adding in more complicated features
What's next for Nope!
- We would like to add in the rest of the action cards to the game and improve gameplay
- Additionally, we wish to promote this discord game such that people can play it and build the connection with their friends
Built With
- discord.py
- python
