Inspiration

Many impactful Muslim-led projects struggle with trust, visibility, and long-term engagement. Donations often feel opaque, with little transparency or follow-up. We wanted to rethink funding for good using modern financial infrastructure while staying firmly rooted in Islamic values like intention (niyyah), trust (amanah), and ethical responsibility.

What it does

NoorPad is a faith-aligned funding launchpad for Muslim projects and startups such as schools, wells, media initiatives, and social enterprises.

  • Users connect their Phantom wallet directly to NoorPad
  • All contributions are made using USDC, a stable dollar-pegged cryptocurrency that avoids volatility and speculation
  • Each contribution is a donation, not an investment
    • No selling
    • No trading
    • No price movement
  • Projects display transparent progress through funding totals, milestones, and updates
  • A dedicated Impact Map uses an interactive 3D globe to show where projects are located and how they are progressing in the real world

The experience focuses on clarity, trust, and real impact rather than financial gain.

How we built it

NoorPad is structured around clear, purpose-driven components.

  • Phantom wallet integration allows users to securely connect and donate using a familiar crypto interface
  • USDC is used exclusively as the funding currency to ensure stable value, simple accounting, and clear donation amounts
  • Every donation creates an on-chain transaction, giving NoorPad an immutable and publicly verifiable funding record
  • The frontend is split into three main views
    • A Marketplace for discovery
    • Project pages for transparency and progress tracking
    • An Impact Map that visualizes funded projects across the globe

Crypto is not used for speculation. It acts as the underlying trust and transparency layer.

How this fits the Halal FinTech and Ethical Economy track

NoorPad applies Islamic finance principles directly into its architecture and user experience.

  • No riba since there is no interest, lending, or yield
  • No speculation since USDC removes volatility and donations cannot be resold
  • Amanah through on-chain USDC transactions that are auditable and transparent
  • Niyyah through options for public or anonymous donations, prioritizing sincerity over recognition
  • Ethical capital flow where funds directly support real-world value creation

This makes NoorPad a practical example of modern halal-aligned financial technology.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was using crypto without inheriting speculative design patterns. We intentionally removed price charts, trading language, and hype-driven mechanics while keeping the system crypto-native and transparent.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Deep integration of USDC and Phantom without enabling speculation
  • Designing a crypto platform centered on donation and impact
  • Building a calm, global visualization of real-world projects
  • Translating Islamic financial ethics into actual product mechanics

What we learned

Crypto’s real strength lies in transparency and accountability rather than speculation. When paired with ethical constraints, it becomes a powerful tool for trust-based systems.

What's next for NoorPad

  • Stronger Phantom wallet interactions for verified milestones
  • On-chain milestone-based fund releases
  • Long-term tracking of Sadaqah Jariyah projects
  • Expanding NoorPad to support broader ethical and humanitarian initiatives while maintaining halal principles
