Inspiration

Our inspiration for this program was for anyone who loves reading. We wanted users to be able to share their love of reading with other users on the app by finding quotes and sharing it.

What it does

It uses AI to pull quotes from a book and emotion that a user chooses. The quote emulates that emotion so that users can create aesthetic wall papers using the quotes. It also has an option for people to be rewarded for reading. When they hit certain reading milestones, they are awarded with items they can use to design their own book nook within the app.

How we built it

We used HTML and CSS to make the website that shows what the interface would look like on a computer. We also used OpenAI, Python, and Tkinter in order to create the program that generates quotes from books and emotions the users choose.

Challenges we ran into

As beginners, we had issues with both the website and the quote generating program. Within the website using two new languages was challenging but also fulfilling. While creating the quote generator, we had issues integrating OpenAI and Tkinter methods.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As a full team of beginners, we are really proud of ourselves overcoming our challenges, pushing past our comfort zones, and most importantly working efficiently as a team.

What we learned

On the basic level we learned how to further develop our skills within certain programming languages, but furthermore we also learned a lot more about integration and got a deeper appreciation for AI.

What's next for nooked

We would like to integrate our OpenAI methods with the future app. We would also like to provide a better UX/UI interface for users to interact with.
