Inspiration
We wanted to create a hack that involved IOT with a medical-centric hack where we can learn more about Arduino and backend technologies.
What it does
Detects and collects a pulse and displays a BPM measurement
How we built it
WE built it with an ESP8266(Arduino IDE) and heartbeat sensor, used C++ to program the software.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into challenges initially setting up the hardware and later ran into communication issues where we had trouble finding ways to connect the ESP8266(Arduino IDE) and communicate the collected data to firebase for use in a software interface.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of working on new technologies that we have not used before that was out of our comfort zone and executed on them to the best of our abilities
What we learned
We learned that working with hardware can be finicky, and that working with arduino interfaces can be more difficult than we expected!
What's next for Node MCU Heartbeat
We will hopefully be able to upload our datasets to firebase or any other cloud interface so that we can utilize the data in a machine learning algorithm to detect abnormalities and inform paramedics in advance.
