Inspiration

We choose this challenge, because we are interested in web development. We were tempted to design website which will be in production almost immediatelly.

What it does

It display a timeline with important evens such as new projects, newcomers, sport events etc. There is also presentation mode for TV in hall with practical clock. Admins can add new events based on date and a specific tag.

How we built it

We build frontend in React framework. There is a main page that shows timeline as one of the pages in Visma.sk. There are another pages such as form for adding new events, presentation mode and separate event pages. Database is created in PostgreSQL, everything is containerized for simple deployment.

Here is a simple and yet self-explanatory diagram which shows structure of our app.

Challenges we ran into

Basically everything, we are not experienced in this type of projects. It is a short time period for us to learn everyting, but we tried our best. We struggled with frontend, and connecting all parts of application.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are happy for being here, it was nice experience. We are proud of our small steps and improvements, learning basics of React in such a small time window.

What we learned

We learned that its harder to build real application in such a short time and that planning is the key to success.
