NGOFinder App

We are college students who are involved in social work. We are very passionate about making a difference in our community and wanted to get involved with local NGOs to help people in need. However, when we tried to find NGOs to volunteer with, we found it difficult to navigate through the various websites and directories available online. It was frustrating and time-consuming to find the right NGO that aligned with our interests and values. We realized that there must be many other people who face the same challenge when trying to find NGOs to support or volunteer with. We saw this an opportunity to make a difference by creating a platform that could help people easily find and connect with NGOs that matched their interests and needs. That is how we came up with the idea of building our app 'NGOFinder' This app allows the user to choose his/her location from the given options (for example- delhi, Faridabad etc.) and then further choose which category (for example- girl child education) they want to work towards. Once the user selects this, all the available NGO options according to the options chosen will be displayed along with information about any volunteering opportunities, awareness sessions, donation drives etc. available in them. The user can easily contact their chosen NGO with the help of the information provided. We built this app using flutterflow which controls the frontend part and used firebase which controls the backend part. Furthermore, we contacted all the ngo's in the locations provided in our app so that they can updating their volunteering opportunities as well if any awareness sessions, walkathons etc. are held. We used location based API's to find the accurate locations of the NGOs. One of the main challenges that we faced was getting in touch with the NGOs as there are a lot of them present in areas like gurgaon and also not all of them were able to update their current events on a timely basis. Also, dealing with firebase which is the backend part was also quite challenging as a lot of steps need to be done in this. Building this project was a great learning experience for us as we were able to learn the upcoming technologies like flutterflow which make use of drag and drop technology as well as code to make mobile and web apps. Along with the technical aspects, we were also able to contribute to our community by making the difficult job of finding NGOs a little easier for people like us who want to give back to the society. In the future, we are looking forward to release the apps on platforms like playstore and appstore. We plan on then increasing the options available in this app by including even more locations which will thereby reach to a larger audience. We also plan on turning this into a website which will further increase its popularity. This would thus help increase the productivity of the NGOs as more and more people would be able to access them conveniently.
