Inspiration

In the world of covid, things have got uncertain. We should be aware of the news around the globe but reading can tedious. It would be better if someone reads out the news for us.

What it does

It gets the source based upon category-specific terms. It reads out the news if you ask it to read it. It is an AI-powered application taking voice input from the user and working on its command.

How we built it

It is built on ReactJs using NewsApi.org as an API for fetching the news data. ALAN AI is used to make the application voice-enabled.

Challenges we ran into

It was challenging to use ALAN AI as it is was new and a bit different from the last technologies used.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

It is fully voice-enabled making it fun for users to use it as it reads the headlines of the article and the user doesn't have to use a mouse and keyboard.

What we learned

We learned using ReactJs adding voice controls to the application and using API to fetch data and display in the best possible way using react hooks and react states.

What's next for News Reader App

I aim at adding the Machine Learning Algorithm to sort out the positive news, this will help the user to consume the positive content. Positivity is key requirement in the depressing era of covid. Aiming to make it a web app showing jobs positing for the user based upon their interest and preferences.
